2025/12/16Observer : Antonio CapodagliWeather Early evening vey windy. Clear skies until 3 am. Humidity very high after 2:30, close to 90 %. Average seeing: 1.5. PTR 2.5/3. Observed almost the whole night. The beginning of the night, around 8 pm, was problematic due to strong winds, faster than 60 km/h. The cold shutter took way more turns than usual to open, which made me skip the evening twilight flats (together with the winds). Dr. Kusune has been updated on this. From 9 till 3:30 am I could observe with no issues. From 3 am until the sunrise, the humidity was very high and the sky got cloudy, so I was unable to take morning flats as well. The last observations had some random clouds in the it, so data from 3:45 onwards is not as good as the previous part of the night. 2025/12/15Observer : Antonio CapodagliWeather Clear sky. PTR 3/3. Average seeing: 1.1. Observed the whole night. No issues to report. Shuffling has been more frequent than usual. 2025/12/14Observer : Antonio CapodagliWeather Clear sky. No clouds. PTR 3/3. Average seeing: 1.2. Observed the whole night, no issues to report. 2025/12/13Observer : Antonio CapodagliWeather Clear sky. No clouds. Average seeing: 1.3. PTR 3/3. Observed the whole night, no software or hardware issues to report. The neon burned out, though, and I had to be in the control room in the dark. It fit the atmosphere, but it needs repair and I'll look into it from monday. 2025/12/12Observer : Antonio CapodagliWeather Cloudy sky, strong winds, rain. PTR 0/3. For the second night in a row, I couldn't observe anything. I opened the telescope at around 7:30 pm to get the evening twilight flats: after that, winds from west with speed up to 60 km/h were blowing for the better part of the night. From 10 to 11 pm we also had some rain. Winds and clouds were present at least until 3. I had to shut down operations earlier than usual. The relative humidity was >90% till about 1 am, and after that it kept oscillating in the range 85-90%, which made observations impossible regardless of the fact that the sky was very cloudy. 2025/12/11Observer : Antonio CapodagliWeather Cloudy sky, very strong winds. PTR 0/3. I could not observe even one minute tonight. In the first part of the night, strong winds up to 60 km/h prevented me from starting the observation: I used the low shutter configuration and closed the louvres in the direction of the wind as reported in the manual, but most of the stars I needed to observe were below the 50° altitude limit: the sky was also extremely cloudy, and I was aiming to some clean spots but to no avail. During the second part of the night, from midnight onward, the winds calmed down but sky was completely covered. I shutdown operations after 2, as the forecast confirmed that the situation was not going to get any better any time soon, in fact rain was predicted to fall in the following hours. 2025/12/10Observer : Antonio CapodagliWeather Clear sky. Average seeing: 1.2. PTR 3/3. Observed the whole night, no instrumental issue. I had to stop observation for about half a hour due to a software issue, promptly solved after contacting Dr. Kusune. |
